This year is an incredibly good year for mushrooms and different ones keep popping up overnight; both of these were growing by the side of the lane near our French house just in time for ECF.I've never seen ones like these before but from the identification books I think they are the Coprinus picaceus aka Magpie Fungus. Possibly poisonous but very attractive.
We found lots of more "normal" mushrooms that we took to the pharmacy to have identified but none of them were recommended as good to eat.
