Marguerite finally finished

I've used the last few months of forced inactivity and convalescence to finish simple things that have been waiting for a long time. You know - those boring and time consuming jobs like sewing in wool ends, lining bags , sewing on buttons ....

Although I have manged to get lots finished, disappointingly I seem to have very little actually photographed - even with my digital camera my restricted vision is making it too difficult.

But I'm very pleased with this one started before Christmas and the knitting part finished ages ago but I've only just found its buttons and finished the seaming.

It's Marguerite from Louisa Harding's Design Collection book. I used 4mm Addis with Kimono Angora Pure shade Teak #13 and did the second size (34). No mods except to make the sleeves full length on me and not the 3/4 length of the pattern.

The colour isn't great on either photo. It's a lovely deep burgundy verging towards chestnut tones as you'd guess from its name - teak. This photo taken when I first started is a much more accurate colour - exactly right on my pc screen.

I've been meaning to add a link to this excellent tutorial for cabling without cable needle from Kathy aka Grumperina. It is an excellent description.

I was going to send you a note on Friday . . wondering where you were and what you were up to. Now I see! How absolutely gorgeous this sweater is. And I like the darker color myself, thanks for posting that to more accurately represent what it looks like.

If you can produce work like this and say you have "limited vision," oh my gosh. I must have limitations beyond my understanding because I don't think I would ever be able to knit something this good. It's so beautiful. Wait, did I say that already? ;) Congrats on completion!!! Wear it in good health.

Very pretty - makes my wish I'd have the patience for that much stockinette.

Thanks for reminding me of that link, Kathryn! I've added it to my favourites now...

Marguerite looks gorgeous, and I hope that 'convalescence' definitely means 'getting better'!

What a wonderful Marguerite. Mine is one of my most worn handknits, I love the shape of this pattern very much.

I'm aiming to start another Central Park Hoodie next month and will practice the cabling link first - I have lots of train time next month, and I don't want to go losing the cable needle down the seats now do I ;-) ?

That's so pretty. Congratulations. My Mum knitted it, but it languishes unfinishe because she made the button bands too tight.
