Rona Lace Shawl and Thanks to Violet Green

First I must apologise for showing you photos of Rona unblocked. I was so pleased with it I couldn't wait to block it especially as blocking can't happen for a while......

It's Violet Green's Silk/Cashmere in colour Emerald and the pattern is Rona Lace Shawl by Anna Marie Jenson from Knitpicks

Those edges will have the points pulled out when it's blocked.

You'll see in this next photo why that can't happen yet.

You see although I thought I'd been very clever when I worked out how much yarn I'd need for the lace cast-off I wasn't quite clever enough. I cast off over 900 stitches but ran out of yarn with another 100 to go. I could have undone the cast off and part of the previous round but undoing so much gives so much opportunity to drop stitches so I decided that wasn't an option and I would have to buy some more - albeit a different dye batch.

But Violet Green came up absolute trumps and offered to dye me just a strand of yarn long enough to complete it!! What fantastic service isn't it??!

It's gorgeous, Kathryn - I love the edging! I've tried to download this pattern from the site, but have now given up! Even though it's a download, it wants me to give my address in the US... hmm.

The VG service is extraordinary! Will definitely buy from them in the near future.

Oh Kathryn words fail me! It's absolutely incredible.

People are kind aren't they. Chrissy custom dyed me a contrast yarn for a cast off when I ran out of Emily last year. I'll never forget that kindness.

Let's see . . how many times can I comment to your posts - "Gorgeous" "Beautiful" "Stunning" etc. - and not sound like a broken record? Each time you finish something, I have to gasp and I immediately fire off a link to a few choice friends. Now the subject line is turning into things like, "She's done it again!". Seriously - your work is amazing. I love your yarn choices and find it so unbelievably hard to understand how you do this with your vision limitations. I've even showed my local yarn shop owner and she flipped over every one of your items. I know she has you bookmarked now!

So, before your next post and FO . . I can already say I will love it. :D
