Orchids and Poppies in France

I am going to show you how lovely the orchids looked when they are fully open. We had lots of the lizard orchids in our wood and quite a few though not as many as previous years of the bee orchid. And I couldn't resist including the poppy field just down the road from our little house.

And this is the bee orchid. When Rachel first saw this photo at first sight she thought they were actually bees on the flower.
The orchids were all late this year and not so many. I think it was a longer and slightly colder than normal winter. Its sad to think they will all have finished flowering when we are next there.
