Forest Canopy in Cranberry

I am really pleased with the way this has turned out; it's knitted in a much thicker yarn than I've ever used for a lace shawl before and I was quite apprehensive but I needn't have worried and it was so fast! I can't remember exactly how long but about 2 days I think while I was doing other things as well.

It's another Forest Canopy this time in a Poshyarn 20% Cashmere/20% Silk/60% Cotton Aran weight yarn called Victoria. The colour is fantastic and I think will look just perfect with my new- for- Spring wrap dress. What do you think?

The wind was blowing the skirt so that's why its blurry. The colour is more like the top photo on my screen - or perhaps somewhere between the two - it actually is a real cranberry colour.

And thinking about pinky reds.....

This is based on the Patons Jet cardi that I was planning ages ago and then went off the Patons yarn completely and started all over again with a different one and a different rib (one that wasn't so tummy hugging). The yarn is familiar to lots of you - Debbie Bliss Aran Tweed - another very fast knit.

I've been planning to chart the pattern for my last- post socks but I can't work out how to do it in Word or any of those so I've had to do it by hand and then photo it.

I'm sure you all know how to do it - I'd love someone to tell me how ......

Anyway here is the chart for the cross pattern.
All the symbols are the standard ones except for that upside down "v "with a dot in the middle. That is the centred eyelet worked over 3 stitches and described in "A Gathering of Lace" by Meg Swanson. Oh, and the upside down "u" above it which is knit into the stitch on the row below, also described in "A Gathering of Lace". You can put the little crosses wherever you like to make the sort of pattern you want, fitting as many stitches before and between repeats to fit with the number of stitches you have got on your sock.

And now some more sock yarn is tempting me.

This is 100% Merino from Piece of Beauty Yarn Store . I'm going to knit completely plain socks but with a little flower motif up from the ankle and I really want to get started. However I am being strong-willed and I shall finish the Colinette jumper I am in the middle of first. And I've got two AbFab throws to make - both for March birthdays so I must get those cast-on. More about the colours I've finally decided on next time...

you've been really busy - there are some lovely socks and shawls there. I love the DB cardigan, nice colour ;) And that piece of beauty sock yarn does look very tempting.

Oooh, obviously the shawl is lovely but I particularly like the cardi. The collar is fab. And I think that's the colour I used for my second Forecast.

Yes you're right Alice and your second forecast is the one I like best. I love the neck shape.

Awww - you're the queen of shawl-knitting, that's for sure! Yours are the most beautiful ones I've ever seen, and I'm not exaggerating here! Very beautiful, and the colour makes it even more prettier!
I also really adore the cardigan, especially the neck part is so beautiful, and that Tweed yarn must have been heaven to work with! Very inspirational work indeed!

The shawl is so beautiful. I love lace in heavier yarns than laceweight.

I got the font I use from here: http://www.knittinguniverse.com/knitu/KFont/index.html

It's free, and really easy to use in Word
