Too Many Bags? Too many Cakes?

A girl can't have too many. Bags, that is. I think I've said it before.

At the moment crochet is my thing and I love making bags so to combine the two is perfect joy for me!

Do you like this one?

It's the Mini Messenger Bag made from 2 balls of Noro Silk Garden colour 275, 5mm hook and lined with some lovely Viyella from my fabric stash.

And this?

I made it to go with this outfit

It is House of Hemp Expressions 2ply - pure hemp that I bought ages ago at Ally Pally to make a knitted modular style of cardigan. I bought some of the same yarn in shades of red/pink/burgundy to make a sideways knitted waistcoat thingy but the instructions were so vague that I decided it was beyond me, especially as the "pattern" was one size and that was enormous for me. So all of this hemp will be used in other ways and this bag is the first.

I used a 3.75 mm hook with the yarn doubled.

I made it to go with the skirt etc above for last weeks Christening. Due to chicken pox and the vicar only two instead of four of my grandchildren were baptised so the other two will be done later - tba.

But we all enjoyed a party afterwards - especially these lovely cakes that Kate had made.

Bag Pattern details

I don't know what I was thinking with my last blog post - no pattern details at all!! So to correct that omission here they are.

You can click the thumbnails for a bigger pic or see the last post.

Bags4
The bottom left is made from Carpet bag pattern by Kathy Frenholz from Indygo Junction and bought from Uhandbag. The top right is based on a free pattern/tutorial from Uhandbag. The others are my own patterns.

Bags1

These are both "SwivelClip Bag" designed by Mandy Shaw at Dandelion Designs and made from plasticised fabric from john Lewis.

Bags2

These and the other two are all more or less the same and made from my own "pattern"

Much of the material is Amy Butler and Joel Dewberrythat I collected over the last year together with pieces from my not insubstantial fabric stash.

Bags 1

This is the last post of "old" things I finished quite a while ago - mainly before Christmas. In fact my sewing machine has stayed in its box since then and most days I don't even pick up my knitting.....grandchildren..... I *so* enjoyed making these bags and I must show you them because I've got lots of ideas for the next ones.

All of these are big enough to hold my knitting - and other essentials.

Bags3

I've arranged them in "mosaic" groups so hopefully they won't take too long to open.

Bags2

All six bags above are the same basic shape. Then there are these

Bags4

Ooops!! The black and white one has managed to creep in again.

These two are in plasticised material from John Lewis...

The thing is, once I start on a theme I find it hard to stop...

....and if you're not too bored, two pictures from our last stay in France two weeks ago.

This last one is special because our garden here in England has absolutely no flowers anywhere in sight thanks to the g-children who beheaded everything that could possibly ever flower.
